Peter Duncan AM appointed as Chair of the Future Freight CRC bid
We are delighted to welcome Peter Duncan AM to the team in this critical leadership role.
With decades of experience at the intersection of public policy, infrastructure delivery, and industry innovation in multimodal freight and aligned sectors, Peter brings a depth of leadership that will help guide the Centre’s vision to transform Australia’s freight future.
Peter is currently Chair of the Australian Rail Track Corporation and Water NSW, and serves on several boards including Infrastructure NSW and the Australian Institute of Public Policy. His distinguished career has spanned senior executive and advisory roles across government and industry — from leading Roads and Maritime Services (including chairing the NSW Ministerial Road Freight Industry advisory committee) and the Department of Services, Technology and Administration, to chairing major programs such as the $3.8 billion NSW Prison Infrastructure Upgrade.
As the Future Freight CRC bid Chair, Peter will play a vital role in steering the CRC’s mission to integrate and leverage digital and physical infrastructure, boosting productivity and resilience across Australia’s freight networks. His understanding of both public sector systems and private enterprise makes him uniquely placed to help position the Centre as a cornerstone for national economic growth, sustainability, and much needed progress toward net zero emissions.
Lee-Ann Breger, Bid Lead for the Future Freight CRC, said:
“We’re absolutely thrilled to have Peter on board at this important time in both the bid process and for the freight sector more generally. His diverse experience and leadership will be instrumental as we all work closely together to deliver a compelling and cohesive proposal to the Australian government on behalf of our diverse stakeholder group.
“FFCRC will drive innovation in our digital and physical infrastructure to create efficiency, resilience, and long-term national prosperity. We have a very real window of opportunity over the next decade to deliver change together, and we are developing a necessary pathway while galvanising organisations into action to capture the benefits. Peter will make a vital contribution to this effort and we look forward to working with him over the coming months.”
